Dili, December 10, 2024 (Média Democracia) – The Centro Nacional Chega (CNC) held a regular meeting with international and national partners in Timor-Leste to evaluate the benefits of the work during the year. The activity was held at the CNC hall, on Monday.
According to CNC Executive Director, Hugo Maria Fernandes, yesterday a routine meeting was held between CNC and international development partners and also public entity partners in Timor-Leste.
“This work was realized because of the existence of laws and regulations that give authority to CNC in carrying out its mandate, CNC can collaborate with government entities, NGOs and international development partners.” Said CNC Executive Director, Hugo Maria Fernandes
He continued, during the seven years that CNC was established and held cooperation with national partners but also accepting cooperation from international development partners based on the CNC Law, so that it could establish cooperation with its partners.
“In the last four years CNC has made good progress, partners and donors have started to receive support from the Australian Embassy, German Embassy, International Universities, KOICA, UNESCO and also the German government, GIZ-HOW international cooperation, French cooperation, so far they have provided support.” CNC Executive Director said.
He added that development partners provide support in two important areas, one on the prevention of memory or events especially on the support of the prevention of CNC files, the other on the education section, human rights history and education for peace including training for teachers.
“Our regular meeting is to actualize the benefits of work so far to be presented to each other in order to receive suggestions and input from development partners, so that CNC can further improve better partners in the future,” he said.
As a representative of UNESCO’s Project Coordinator Partner, Hye Young Kim said that UNESCO has collaborated with CNC, the Ministry of Education and Infordepe since 2021 until now, so yesterday a routine meeting was held to share the progress of the work.
“UNESCO’s collaboration with CNC, the Ministry of Education and Infordepe has been going on for three years, but the project we are organizing is more focused on education for peace and history in three components, one component on preventing the history of Timor-Leste, two components on education in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and three components in cooperation at the regional and international country level.” Said the representative of UNESCO Project Coordinator Partner, Hye Young Kim
She continued, because next year Timor-Leste will become a member of ASEAN, UNESCO wants to promote CNC partners and other institutions in Timor-Leste for ASEAN countries in the fields of education and peace reconciliation.
