Dili, October 22, 2024 (Média Democracia) – President and Nobel Peace Laureate, J. Ramos-Horta begins a landmark visit to Portugal from October 22 to 27, 2024. The visit is a series of high-profile compromises focused on peace, education and international relations.
President Ramos-Horta’s itinerary is packed with events and impact. He will begin with a meeting with high school students from the municipality of Cascais for an interactive Q&A session. Next, the President will participate in the opening of the Estoril Conference at the Nova SBE Carcavelos Campus focused on the theme, “Time to Remember”. The highlight of the visit will be the President’s discourse on Peace, where he will speak on the important topic of leading a country to achieve lasting peace. The discourse will be delivered in the distinguished presence of the President of Portugal, S.E. Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, immediately following the informal meeting between the two leaders.
President Ramos-Horta’s schedule includes a comprehensive visit to the Nova SBE Campus and the Exposition Rethink Hub. Engaging with the academic community, President Ramos-Horta will conduct interviews with master students from the “Politics Student Club” and meet with Portuguese media.
The President will hold meetings and discussions with the leadership of the Nova Public Policy Institute to strengthen the President’s commitment to developing international cooperation and exchnage knowledge. The visit will end with President Ramos-Horta receiving the Junk War Literary Award at the Airport on the evening of the 26th.
