Dili, October 28, 2024 (Média Democracia) – The Ministry of Health has compromised to strengthen the implementation of the Family Planning Program by focusing on providing a three-year space in order to reduce maternal mortality and save infant lives.
The speech was delivered by the Deputy Minister for Strengthening Health Institutions when taking a position at the Launch of the National Family Planning Campaign focusing on providing space for three-year-old children which was held at the BJ Habibie Building, last Friday (October 25, 2024).
Deputy Minister for Strengthening Health Institutions, José Dos Reis Magno said that the Ministry of Health compromised to strengthen the implementation of activities in order to allocate state general funds for maternal and infant health programs.
“The Ministry of Health will increase the allocation of state general funds for maternal and infant health programs to assist and improve the performance of quality and effective health workers. The Ministry will also inventory the capacity of health human resources to allocate funds and provide training for health professional workers so that they can improve their skills and technical knowledge in providing quality and effective services to the community,” said the Deputy Minister of Health.
He emphasized that the Ministry of Health will provide training to health workers so that they can provide information to the public.
“Sharing information to the community to help and improve their knowledge about the benefits of family planning services to make the right decisions about their reproductive health,” he said.
The Ministry of Health will also collaborate with religious leaders to prepare the young generation who want to build a household with a family planning program, of course with thorough preparation.
He added that would expand the work on integrating reproductive health during emergencies.
“Will integrate work on reproductive health in emergencies, strengthen the rescue space for victims of gender-based violence, will strengthen data on maternal and infant mortality,” he continued.
Therefore, infrastructure for KEMON BASIC services will be built in 20 facilities supported by the Japanese government with a total of 7 million and the Australian government with more than 2 million.
The Ministry of Health will leave no one behind which means that the Ministry of Health has compromised to offer health assistance to the reproductive age population throughout Timor including the disabled, young people, especially people living in remote areas.
