Dili, November 15, 2024 (Média Democracia) – President of the Republic José Ramos-Horta officially opened the second edition of Sci-Tech EXPO 2024 at the Nicolau Lobato Presidential Palace. The two-day event from 15-16 November marks Timor-Leste’s important journey towards technological progress and innovation.
Sci-Tech EXPO 2024 as part of the Timor-Leste Tourism Promotion program in 2024 with the theme, “Science, Technology and Innovation: The Path to Transformation and Sustainable Development in Timor-Leste”.
The event was attended by 36 participants, including higher education institutions, international institutions, telecommunications companies, and employees of technology principals. The two-day exhibition featured a comprehensive range of programs, including a science and technology exhibition, a higher education fair, student competitions, and cultural activities.
“This exhibition is not only a showcase of technology, including our country’s commitment to making innovation a catalyst for sustainable development. Through investment in science and technology education, we are not only building infrastructure, we are also investing in the dreams and capacities of our youth who will lead Timo-Leste into the future.” The President asserted.
The event aims to stimulate interest in science and technology, while promoting the practice of technological solutions tailored to the unique context of Timor-Leste. The event serves as a platform to showcase research projects, expand educational partnerships, and develop students’ critical thinking skills.
Sci-Tech EXPO 2024 is open to the public and features a wide range of activities that demonstrate the country’s commitment to progress in various sectors.
