Dili, November 18, 2024 (Média Democracia) – Living in this world everyone wants to get good things in their life to meet their daily needs, but Rosalinda Pinheiro de Jesus, 40 years old decided to make a living by selling fruits such as bananas, grapes, mangoes and others to meet the needs of her family especially for her 8 children consisting of 6 girls and 4 boys, now she lives in Manleuana, and she comes from Remexio, Aileu.
She admitted that she decided to earn a living by selling fruit to meet her family’s needs because she had been divorced from her husband for a long time.
“As a poor person, struggling to survive is not easy for me, it is very difficult for me, but because I am forced to do this job, I have been selling these fruits for years since 1999 until now to fight for this life. My husband and I have divorced and left 8 children but only 2 of them can get an education and the rest cannot because I am the only one so I do not have enough money to pay for the others to get an education, because I am the only one who can earn a living to support them, therefore I continue to sell fruits on the side of the road and on the beach so that I can get money to meet the needs of my family, especially my children.” She said in front of the Palace
She added that her daily activities had to accept the reality of only earning a living, so as not to depend on other people and how to carry out responsibilities towards the family as a mother and father at the same time.
“Every day, my job is selling fruits on the roadside, I buy these fruits from Taibesi market. In the morning I have to get ready from Manleuana to Taibesi market to buy fruits such as bananas, grapes, mangoes, oranges and others, I buy these fruits based on their respective prices such as a bunch of bananas costs $1.00 and I resell them for $1.50, if I am lucky all sold then I can get up to $50.00 to $60.00 but if not sold, one day I can only get $30.00 and the rest I take home to eat or just carry. The money I earn I collect to buy food and some for my children’s school fees.” She continued.
She also added that she did not feel bored and tired to continue trying to earn a living by selling fruits, even though it felt like a man’s job, however, she continued to try and dare to run this business, because if not, how could she earn an income to meet her daily needs, even with a mediocre income, however, she is still grateful to be able to struggle to live and be responsible for the lives of her children.
