Ermera, December 30, 2024 (Média Democracia) – The Atsabe community is concerned about the poor condition of the road from Letefoho to Atsabe, so the community asked the government to repair the road which is a concern for the community, especially the Atsabe residents.
In an interview with the Atsabe community, Clarita Gonçales Monteiro said that she felt very sad because this road had been damaged for a long time and made it very difficult for people to travel because during the rainy season this road was very difficult to access, therefore she asked the government, especially the leaders, to improve the condition of this road.
“As a member of the public, I have been traveling to Dili during the rainy season, buses from Ermera to Dili are very difficult to find, sometimes there are also cars that get stuck because of the poor road conditions. This road is not only damaged this year, but every year during the rainy season, the road becomes very damaged so that it is difficult to access.” She said.
She continued, his party asked the government to pay attention to the condition of the road because every year there are always complaints about the road because its condition is very bad and sometimes cars also get stuck on the road just because the road is very bad, therefore it is hoped that next year the government can realize the existing promise to repair the road connecting Letefoho and Atsabe.
On the other hand, Atsabe Administrator Manuel Oliveira said that talking about the roads that are currently in poor condition, the Public Works have carried out emergency services for all roads in the villages and sub-villages, but for the main road connecting the two posts, it will be based on the legal process from the government and will make the road based on the plan in 2025 and 2026.
“The public concern is clear because the road is very bad, so it will be based on the process as I said earlier that it will be based on the plan that must be realized by the government and we have also told the government that when the big project of building public roads and public works is now doing emergency work because they are closing all the potholes that make it difficult for people to travel from Dili to Atsabe and vice versa.” He said
He added that he believed that with this concern, next year the plan made by the government could repair the road, therefore it was very much needed so that the Atsabe community could utilize it because the road connecting Letefoho with Atsabe had been included in the government’s planning system, which is in 2025 and 2026 the road connecting the two posts would be repaired starting from Gleno to Letefoho and so on to Atsabe.
