Dili, October 21, 2024 (Média Democracia) – Ermera health center recorded asthma cases starting from January to September with a total of 60,113 caused by climate.
The Director of the Ermera Health Center, António de Deus Fátima said that currently in the Ermera health center the most common disease suffered is asthma due to climate change.
“In my opinion, the diseases that are common in Ermera are liver and asthma, which are due to climate change, as we know, rain and heat can have an impact on health,” said the Director of SSME at the Timor Hotel, on Friday.
He said, Ermera Health Center has currently submitted to the Ministry of Health regarding human resources and 10 diseases faced by Ermera Municipality.
“Yesterday we just submitted to the Ministry of Health regarding human resources and 10 diseases that are currently occurring in Ermera, more or less with the number of patients who entered from January to September, at the same time we are also completing the diseases referred to Dili, we have completed it, because yesterday Exccellency also asked about the data so that we can compare it with health workers and also their services.” He added.
He emphasized that Ermera is sufficient to meet the need for nurses because it is currently recruiting 19 more health workers.
“Currently, we are short of nurses because it is related to the visit of the PDHJ from National Parliament and also the Ministry of Health which at the same time added 12 people who applied for the first stage of recruitment, now we are gathering another 19 people, the hope is that these 19 people can complete all existing health facilities,” he said.
In addition, 19 people consisting of nurses, midwives, doctors and also medical electrologists to carry out refrigerator maintenance,
The director added that each health post in Ermera has 1 or 2 health workers considering the conditions and availability of funds.
“I think based on the minimum provisions of the government’s plan, each post must have at least 5 to 7 people, but due to conditions and limited funds, now each health post only places 1 or 2 people, at most 3 people consisting of nurses, midwives, doctors and public health.” He added.
He added that the government’s plan was to place one health staff in each sub-village to monitor the condition of the residents, but based on the government’s plan there no recruitment.
“Based on the government’s plan, each sub-villages must place one public health to monitor the condition of the community in its village, but he did not make a plan because as we know that in a period of two or three years we can recruit in public health to complete it.” He added.
Thus, based on reporting data, the Ermera District Health Office recorded the highest cases occurred in January to September with 6 diseases, such as Asthma with a total of 69,113 consisting of 34,657 women and 25,456 men. Acute Diarrhea with a total of 6,871 consisting of 3,568 and 3,303 men. Pneumonia with a total of 3,352 consisting of 1,699 women and 1,653 men. Fever with Ras a total of 538 consisting of 303 women and 235 men. Blood Diarrhea with a total of 206 consisting of 118 women and 88 men and Dengue with a total of 121 consisting of 57 women and 64 men.
