Dili, September 30, 2024 (Media Democracia)- The Press Council (KI) collaborated with ABC ID International Development to facilitate training on Inclusive Journalism Guidelines for 16 journalists from media such as Hatutan.Com, Lafaek News, Radio Racambia, RCC, RTTL Ep, RKDTL, SapNews, Neon Metin, and Halibur News. The training was held at the Press Council hall on Friday last week.
In his remarks, the President of the Press Council, Otelio Ote, said that the activity held by the Press Council was a collaboration with ABC ID International Development to facilitate training on Inclusive Journalism Guidelines for journalists who attended with various positions so that they would better understand the field of coverage that focuses more on Inclusive Journalism.
“Today’s training material is very interesting because before we convey it to fellow journalists, we have already held a discussion first that discussed the materials and today can we provided training to fellow journalists so that they are more familiar with the materials given by the trainer and the hope is that from this training fellow journalists can have the ability in this field.” Said the Chairman of the Press Council
He continued, he asked the journalists to make the most of this opportunity to follow this training until it is finished because this training is the second stage of training, the first stage of training has been carried out in Baucau and this is the second stage of training carried out in Dili. As the Chairman of the Press Council, he asked the journalists to take advantage of this opportunity to take some materials to be applied in their respective institutions.
Founder of ABC ID International Development, Caroline added, she was very happy because for a week she was in Timor-Leste to facilitate training for Timor-Leste journalists, she expressed her gratitude to the Chairman of the Press Council who was willing to work together to facilitate training for these journalists.
“I am very grateful to the Press Council for organizing this training and also to my brother Nunu who has created a guidebook on inclusive journalism that we will use in today’s training, also thank you to the journalists who attended from various media, hopefully you will understand more about inclusive journalism because you are the Editor-in-Chief, Editor, and as the leader of a media institution.” She said.
She explained that this training is an inclusive reporting training, to make it easier for journalists to write history that has an impact on all the people of Timor-Leste, not just one person, therefore on Friday the Press Council together with ABC ID International Development facilitated this journalist training until completion.
