Dili, September 23, 2024 (Média Democracia) – Timor-Leste Catholics sadly bid farewell to His Holiness Pope Francis on the roadside, on Wednesday 11 september 2024.
Lucia Perreira sadly expressed her feelings that for 35 years Timor-Leste has been waiting for the presence of the Pope, therefore at this time even though it is hot she is still sitting on the side of the road to wait for the Pope.
“We have been waiting for the Pope for a long time, but with the grace of God Almighty, today the Pope can come to Timor-Leste, even in hot weather, but still present by sitting on the side of the road to meet with His Holiness,” She said in Timor Lodge, Comoro, Dili.
With tears in her eyes she said that she was very sad because in a matter of minutes His Holiness would be leaving Timor-Leste.
“I feel very sad because the Pope is almost leaving this country to continue his mission to another country, it feels like a dream for these three days, but with my prayers I hope the Pope will always be healthy and have a long life to carry out his mission in the world.” She added.
She said, on this last day, even though it was hot, she still stood on the side of the road to wait for the pope to come and receive the last blessing from him.
“Today is the last day the Pope leaves us all, so this morning I am sitting here to meet His Holiness the Pope to receive his last blessing, because we do not know when the Pope will come to our country again so we can receive a blessing.” She continued.
On the other hand, Domingas Beli said she was happy to be able to participate in the visit of His Holiness Pope Francis because she brought her child to receive the Pope’s blessing.
“I feel very happy to be able to participate the Pope’s visit, because I brought my disabled child to meet and receive blessings from His Holiness, that with God’s grace she can recover,” She said in Bebora park
She informed that this morning at 08.00 she left Becora with her daughter to wait for His Holiness at the side of the road to say goodbye and receive the last blessing from the Pope.
“I live in Becora, this morning her father took us here at 08.00 to wait for the Pope who will leave the Catholics in Timor, it feels like this is the last farewell with us, therefore this morning we came here to wait for the Pope so that my daughter can receive the last blessing from the Pope.” She said.
She emphasized that her daughter, Febrianti Benevidesz, is five years old with a physical disability in one of her legs, who is very enthusiastic about meeting His Holiness, therefore this morning they were at Bebora Park to wait at the side of the road.
