Dili, 11 April 2025 (Média Democracia) – The Public Function Commission, together with the Ministry of Justice, officially inaugurated 122 newly recruited public servants under the Secretary of State for Land and Property through a recruitment process carried out this year.
According to the Ministry of Justice’s 2024 annual action plan, this initiative aims to strengthen the work of the State Secretary for Land and Property, particularly the General Directorate of Land and Property, in managing land surveys from the national to municipal levels.
“Today, they are sworn in to reinforce the General Directorate of Land and Property. You are now new officials, becoming agents of the state. We will invest in your efforts to elevate your knowledge and help you gain skills that enhance your performance,” said Sergio Hornai to journalists after the swearing-in ceremony at the Ministry of Justice auditorium on Thursday (10/04).
The newly appointed public servants will serve within the General Directorate of Land and Property, with assignments both at the national and municipal levels.
“They will contribute to our land survey efforts, including both systematic and separate surveys,” he added.
Out of the 122 new public servants, 10 will be assigned at the national level, and the remaining will be distributed to municipalities, with each municipality receiving 10 personnel.
“Before being sworn in as public servants in the General Directorate of Land and Property under the Ministry of Justice, these individuals went through a rigorous selection process,” he explained.
The Minister urged the new officials to perform their duties with loyalty and responsibility. “I ask you once again to serve with unity, passion, loyalty, and responsibility,” he emphasized.
Also present was Agapito da Conceição, Commissioner of the Public Function Commission in charge of the portfolio, who reminded the newly appointed public servants to remain committed to serving the state with integrity.
“Always demonstrate loyalty to the State, serving with dedication and commitment, fulfilling your duties responsibly, honestly, professionally, lawfully, with integrity, and defending the interests of the State,” he stated.
The new public servants will now carry out their duties as agents of the Public Administration, particularly in technical and administrative assistant roles.
