Dili, November 6, 2024 (Media Democracia) – SEFOPE through DNEE held a farewell event for 104 Timorese workers who will soon be working in South Korea. This activity was held at the Timor Lodge, Comoro, Dili.
According to DNEE, João Correia Pereira said, the ceremony held like today as a culture before Timor-Leste workers leave to work abroad, has costumes that must be accompanied by a signed statement between the government, family and workers.
“We are all ready to leave our workers to work in South Korea, this year SEFOPE produced a total of 104 workers to work in South Korea consisting of 11 women and 93 men, 8 re-entry and 96 new workers.” said DNEE, João Correia Pereira
He continued, re-entry workers showed a good way for new workers because they had good behavior, therefore they had just returned to Timor-Leste but less than three months later they immediately worked in South Korea because they had already gained the trust of their superiors.
“Asked to the workers the most important thing that the Timor-Leste government wants to convey to all of you that today signing this declaration in the short term you will all leave Timor-Leste to work in South Korea, this represents our country not individuals, therefore asked to work must show good attitudes and discipline because Koreans work based on strict rules.” He said.
He added that Timorese workers must show a mentality to face new situations because in Timor sometimes many do not have communication, so when leaving for South Korea they must use good manners in order to communicate well so they can continue to learn Korean language.
As a worker representative, Heriyanti Tuati admitted that she was proud as a young person who had the opportunity to work in South Korea for five years in the factory area.
“I am very grateful for the opportunity given especially to SEFOPE through the hard work of DNEE so that today we have the opportunity to work abroad to advance the life and beloved country of Timor Leste,” She said.
A message for young people, especially women in Timor-Leste, not to miss this beautiful opportunity, to try and be enthusiastic in using the time to learn everything so that we can change our dreams in the future.
She explained that the most beautiful plan for the future when returning from South Korea to Timor-Leste is to create jobs for young people in the agricultural sector, such as raising animals, so that it can provide benefits for unemployed so they can earn income to meet their living needs and strengthen the family economy.
