These words were conveyed by SEI to journalists at the Maria Gorete hall, Caicoli, Dili, on Friday.
In an interview with the Secretary of State for Equality (SEI), Mrs. Elvina Sousa Carvalho said that the law provides a way for women to become owners of the land, especially in the family, unfortunately until now women still experience discrimination in the family.
“In the legal provisions provide a way for women to become owners of the land, but in reality there is still discrimination for women to become owners of the land, it also depends on women but women also need inheritance especially land, houses and goods. Therefore, we must demand our rights, I continue to encourage women who are victims especially in families and always get discrimination, and when a family wants to divide land but does not involve women to get land, this is against the law. ” SEI said in Caicoli, Dili
She added that women were asked to have the courage to stand up to demand their rights to land.
“I ask women to stand up and fight for your rights as owners of land, goods or houses, because both women and men have the same rights to receive property from the family. Both boys and girls must have the right to become landowners, because the law provides opportunities and rights for women to receive inheritance.” She said.
She explained that he continues to ask and encourage women to dare to stand up and demand their rights, so that they can obtain land or become land owners, because in family life, both men and women must have the same rights to property, especially land, because the law has regulated it.
