Dili, December 16, 2024 (Média Democracia) – The Secretary of State for Social Communication (SEKOMS) through the Center for Technical Training in Communication (CEFTEC) held a certificate presentation ceremony for 383 training participants who had completed training at the national and district/city levels in 2024. This activity was held at the Apuramento Nacional Hall, CNE, Colmera, Dili, on last Friday.

According to SEKOMS, Expedito Loro Dias Ximenes said, the activity was held in the context of the handover of certification from the Center for Technical Training in Communication (CEFTEC) to hand over certificates to 383 training participants in five municipalities.

“The Secretary of State for Social Communication through the Communication Technical Training Center organizes training in the fields of protocol, public relations, television, radio, written press, including written communication in times of crisis, these types. In the period of 2024, SEKOMS distributed training to five municipalities in the ranks of the ministry nationally with a total of 383 training participants.” Said SEKOMS, Expedito Loro Dias Ximenes

He continued, next year 2025 CEFTEC will be held again in other districts/cities with the same area. The goal is to produce media and protocol cadres in districts/cities, especially in the ministry ranks, so that they can increase insight and capacity.

“The purpose of this training is to form media officers and protocols in the ministry/institution environment to better understand how to be an MC in the line of ministries because they have received good training in this field, so they can prepare data that will be submitted to the leadership to be published to the public so that it can be accessed properly.” SEKOMS said.

He added that because in this event the ranks of ministries and five districts/cities that participated in this training also received their respective certificates according to the theme, “My communication skills to strengthen institutional effectiveness”, meaning that those who have communication skills that are close to state institutions need to participate in training so that they can develop further in various fields.

“This training will continue until next year, we will look for a plan to work with the Press Council so that this training can be distributed to journalists in the regions, so this training is not for employees in the Ministries line in municipalities,” he said.

As Director of CEFTEC, Julio Fernandes said that through the SEKOMS program, CEFTEC’s human resource capacity building is held annually in Timor Leste.

“However, in 2024, the training will be held in January at the national level and then closed with training at the district/city level. The total number of students we have produced this year through this training is 383 people who have finished today and have received their certificates.” Said CEFTEC Director, Julio Fernandes

He continued, that the PAN that comes from SEKOMS through CEFTEC every year always produces training for students whose volume is always different every year, because in 2023 it produced 350 students but this year it produced 383 students, meaning that every year the percentage is always different.

“Because it is related to training organized by the state to coordinate human resources, especially agents in the public administration environment, and also the private sector so that they can know how social communication works,” he said.

He informed that every year CEFTEC always holds training for students in districts/cities, but in 2024 the training will be divided into five districts/cities, namely Lautem, Baucau, Ermera, Manufahi and Bobonaro, so that in 2025 CEFTEC will provide training to districts/cities that have not yet received access to training through CEFTEC.

On the other hand, the representative of the training participants through the Multimedia department, Maria Esteves said, with the holding of today’s training, she felt very proud because she was able to get the opportunity from SEKOMS through CEFTEC which had provided her certificate.

“I am very pleased with the plan of the State Secretariat for Social Communication through CEFTEC which is good in 2024 to provide training to the ranks of the ministry so that they can improve their knowledge and better capacity in various fields, especially in the field of Multimedia.” Said the representative.

She added that in this training they studied for 8 days at the Bobonaro Municipality level, in this training they learned more about multimedia, how to use a camera, how to do field coverage with the community and directors in the municipality ministry ranks, how to produce videos and edit them to then be published to the public.
